This collage of photographs and portraits were taken by two different photographers who were born years and hundreds of miles apart. Both photographers are striving to use their artistic abilities and medium to capture ordinary everyday life in their respective regions of birth.

1) Without complete knowledge of these regions, what connections and conflicts can you recognize between these regions and the people who inhabit them? If you had a map in your hands, what two regions would you pinpoint as the origins of these portraits?

2) What kinds of stereotypes do these images provoke in your mind?

3) How can you account for why these stereotypes pop into your mind?

Always base and connect your assessments and ideas in the photographs.

The collages portray the kids as if they’re dirty, unlearned, and simple. Looks like some pictures are in a urban( city) area like south side Chicago while the others in a rural(southern) surrounding like Kentucky. The kids look like they have no home training….WHATSOEVER….bad ass kids !!!
